Road trip routes
This i a 2 day trip and it will take you around Bucegi Mpuntains, in Prahova Valley and then back on Rucar-Bran pass. The route is not so long in order to have enough time to visit various places on the road. For the night sleep, I considered that Brasov is the best place to stay becasuse you have many places to visit and a good night life.
On the first day we go towards Targoviste. The idea would be to avoid DN1 because you, probably went very often on this route and secondly, if it's weekend, chances are thar the road is very crowded. After Targoviste we take the road to Sinaia. Asphalt quality is not very good but the scenery is beautiful, especially as we approach the mountains. The first objective would be Transbucegi and if you have the time, you can descend to the lake Bolboci. After taht we go back to Prahova Valley where we stop in Sinaia to visit Peles and Pelisor then we can visit Cantacuzino Castle. If you are a passionate, there are some mountain trails that can be done in 2-3 hours: Urlatoarea Falls or 7 stairs canyon (Timisul de Jos). We can spend the night in Brasov and if you arrive early enough, besides famous attractions like Piata Sfatului or Black Church, we can visit interesting places in Brasov and surroundings: Fortress Prejmer, The Rope Street (the narrowest street in Romania), bastions of former fortress of Brasov.
The second day begins with a spectacular segement: the road from Brasov to Rasnov through Poiana Brasov, with26 km of curves, hairpins and beautiful landscapes. At the end of the road we have a number of places that can be visited: Rasnov Fortress, Rasnoavei gorge and Bran Castle. From here we take Rucar-Bran pass, a new segment full of curves and beautiful landscapes. Right before the end of this road we can visti Dambovicioara Cave and Dambovicioara Gorges. After Campulung we can take the road to Targoviste or if we hurry home, fastest option would be to go on Pitesti - Bucharest highway.
