day 1:

We will leave from the center of the country northwest toward Targu-Mures. The way here is pretty nice, especially the first part that is full of curves. Up to Reghin the road is roughly the same. Then on the part between Reghin and Bistrita you will have an almost perfect asphalt, low traffic and some very fun segments: many curves and even some hairpins. After Bistrita we enter the mountains! The first spectacular road is the Tihuta Pass, then immediately we fo on the Mestecanis Pass. We are already in the heart of Bucovina and the scenery has become wonderful: it is perhaps the most beautiful area in Romania and among the few where mass tourism seems to have not taken everything. After Pojorata we turn left towards Moldovita and Sucevita where it really worthy to stop to visit the famous monasteries with the same name. If you have time you can take a detour to the Putna monastery (about 50km round trip). In the evening you can stop in Gura Humorului because you have already reached the middle of the route.

day 2:

In the immediate vicinity of Humor is Voronet Monastery and Humor Monastery, but you will not be able to stay too long because a full day is waiting for you. A short heating up to Pojorata, because that's where Transrarau starts. Here are two roads in one: the Nordic side of the mountain segment is recently upgraded. There are 3.5m wide lanes, parapets, hairpins with superlatives and some straight lines where overtaking can be done. The southern side is the opposite: very narrow road (about 4m wide) areas with steep slopes, and many curves with very low visibility. Then we enter the Bistrita Valley where we go over a road that probably has not been repaired ever since it was built because the asphalt is terrible. The effort is worthwhile because the road takes us to Lake Izvorul Muntelui and then to Bicaz Gorges. If at Gheorgheni it seems to you that the mountains are over, don't relax yet, because we have a new pass: Bucin with its 1280 m altitude. The day is ending somewhat more relaxing with the curves between Praid and Sighisoara.
