road description

Olt Valley together with Prahova Valley is one of the most traveled passes over the Carpathians and it is part of the trans-European corridor IV. Although it is in discussions for many years to build a highway on this route, this probably will happen earliest in 2020. Coming from Ramnicu Valcea, immediately after passing the Cozia Monastery the spectacular pat begins with two curved viaducts constructed a few meters away from the side of the mountain.

Olt river is a fairly large river, so it managed to dig through the mountains a large valley, so basically on the length of the pass of about 60km, the difference off altitude is only about 100m. For this reason the entire length of the route we will have only wide and fast curves.
